Carson Foster’s journey is a powerful example of resilience and redemption. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Carson was a standout prodigy who faced a defining moment of adversity when he narrowly missed the Olympic Team in 2021. Instead of letting that heartbreak define him, he used it as fuel, becoming a dominant force in the NCAA for the University of Texas Longhorns. His persistence paid off on the world stage as well. After collecting multiple silver and gold medals at the World Championships between 2022 and 2024, Carson realized his Olympic dream in Paris, bringing home a Silver medal in the relay and a Bronze in the 400m Individual Medley.
Dealing with Adversity: My road in swimming has not been linear. Missing the Olympic team in 2021 was a difficult hurdle, but it taught me how to deal with adversity within the sport. I have been lucky enough to experience swimming at a high level while also learning that setbacks are just part of the journey.
Growth Mindset: I have a strong technical sense of swimming, but I also believe that a happy swimmer is a fast swimmer! If you aren’t enjoying what you are doing, the results won’t come as easily. I aim to make everyone I teach feel confident and comfortable in the water.
Relationships Over Records: Times and achievements are fun, but it’s the relationships that really matter. Whether it is my teammates, my coaches, or my wife, those connections are what make the hard work worth it. I try to go all-out in every aspect of work, but I never lose sight of the people who support me.
Full Circle: My parents took me to many camps when I was growing up. It is amazing to get to be on the other side of it now after years of help from parents, coaches, and teammates. I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to the next generation of swimmers.
